Chirnside Chasers sent 12 athletes up to Grangemouth for the East District Championships. It started off on Friday night with Josh Abbott the only Chaser competing. Josh was doing the 200m which he hasn’t tackled in some months. He ran a very good heat to get himself into the final with a time of 26.21. He then ran 25.80 in what was a super fast Final this gave Josh a very well earned PB.
Saturday sarted of fantastically well with Keira Waddel first up in the U15 Javelin she threw 32.90 which won her the gold medal and also claimed the Championship record so well done Keira very well deserved. Emily Martin competed in the U13G long jump and jumped 3.08m which placed her 10th, Emily also competed in the 100m and ran really well in her heat in a time of 15.87 unfortunately not quite quick enough to get into the final. The Fuller boys Archie and Harry were up next in the Javelin, Archie managed a throw of 19.81m and claimed the bronze medal he then went on to the Shot Put and threw 7.73m to claim the gold, excellent result for Archie. Harry threw 19.78m to claim the bronze medal on the day and then went on to do the High Jump where he managed a jump of 1.30m sadly not quite enough for another medal. Joey Brown also competed in the morning firstly doing the 100m running yet another PB of 12.45, Joey then carried on after that in the Long Jump managing a jump of 4.79m which again is another PB so well done Joey. Robbie Paulin running in his first championship ran in the Under 15 boys 100m he ran a fantastic heat in a time of 12.34 and qualified for the final, later in the afternoon Robbie ran a fantastic final and ran faster again in a time of 12.27 not bad for his first Champs well done Robbie. Rory Williams running in his first championship for some time due to injury ran an absolute blinder and knocked 9 seconds of his PB to claim 2.14.38 and bagging a place in the final. Rory ran in the final later that afternoon still managing a fantastic 6th place well done Rory. Hannah Hamilton-Meikle ran in the 70m Hurdles and claimed a time of 12.81 and qualified for the final, she ran the final later in the afternoon and managed a much quicker time of 12.26 and just missed out on a medal. Hannah also competed in the 800m in a timed final and ended up in 5th place with a time of 2.40.13. Oliver Stewart competed in the 75m Hurdles but unfortunately he fell at the first hurdle. Daniel Ross competed in the long jump but unfortunately had 3 non jumps but both boys brushed themseves down and competed in the U13 800m Oliver won his heat in a time of 2.36.55 but this being a timed heat he ended up in 5th place overall. Daniel managed to slice more time of his PB to claim a time of 2.47.95 and 8th place overall so well done boys not easy after a disappointment. Charlie Stewart was competing in the high jump and managed a jump of 1.11m just missing out on a medal he then competed in the long jump and jumped 3.20m which placed him in 8th place. Josh Abbott was up next on his second day of competition competing in the 300m he ran a fantastic heat to qulify automatically in a time of 40.73 he was then one of the last to compete on the day in his final and just missed out on a medal and a PB claiming a time of 40.21. it was a fantastic day for the Chasers with 3 GOLDS and 2 BRONZE, some near misses on claiming a medal and an abundance of PB’s – not bad for our wee village club.
