A tale ot two capital cites . .
It was a big turnout on Sunday 23 April as no fewer than 27 Chasers young and old donned their green vests for an action packed day of running in two capital cities. 26 headed north for the Great Edinburgh Run event whilst Zoe McInnes headed down to London to fly the Chirnside flag at the Virgin London Marathon.
First away were the Edinburgh 5 mile runners with 13 Chasers making the start line. David Abbott, racing for the first time also claimed ‘first home’ in a time of 37:54! He was followed in by Ronald Patterson 38:55 who was making it a family affair with wife Carol 42:28 and daughter Emma 43:37. It was also a family affair for the Reynolds with son Ben finishing in 40.14, dad William 45.23 and mum Katrina 49.07. Great running too by the Chasers ladies : Gillian Kirkhope 47:05, Ali Valance 49:03, Jenny Foster 49:25, Marilyn Payne 50:26, Elaine Smith 50.27 and Dawn Sword 1:09 with a special extra mention to Marilyn who was 1st in her category, a fabulous achievement.
This race was followed by the Simplyhealth Great Edinburgh 10 mile run, the only run of its kind which goes through the heart of Edinburgh and a smaller team of 9 Chaser runners this time made the start line. Steven Jeffrey was first home in a speedy 1:20:31, followed by Euan Mcgregor 1:22:18 and Tilly Fuller in 1:24:58. Tracey McCann crossed the line in 1:25:23, Leeann Ross in 1:25:40 and Nadine Moore 1:30:49. Nichola Stewart and running partner Amanda Turner both crossed the line in 1:42:22 and Val Redpath 1:49:15
The final event of a very sunny day in Edinburgh was the kids 1 mile race and a brilliant Chaser foursome did themselves and their club very proud with some super runs. Isla Taylor was the first girl home with younger brother Kyle in fifth place. Completing the ‘Reynolds Family Run Day’ younger brothers Max and Hamish ran this race with both boys doing very well, Hamish claiming a second place!
Meanwhile in London, Chaser Zoe McInnes ran a fabulous London Marathon race completing the course in 4hrs 19mins. A brilliant conclusion after many months of hard training, everyone at the club is super proud.
